How it goes

  1. Team up

Come alone or with friends. Saturday morning has a team-forming session, so nobody is left without a table.

  2. Pick a challenge

The partner companies present real problems. Your team chooses one. Nobody competes with their own idea.

  3. Build

Two days with mentors on the floor. Learn to code on the way if you want, or bring the design and the story.

  4. Demo

On Sunday afternoon your team shows what it made to a jury of founders and investors. The grand prize is 1 000 €.

05 faq

FAQ

The questions everyone asks.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. The best teams have more than coders: designers, sellers, people who can tell the story. And if you want to learn to code over the weekend, that works too: mentors are there to help.

Do I need a team already?

No. Most people come alone. There’s a dedicated team-forming session on Saturday morning. You’re also welcome to bring a team.

Do I need an idea already?

No, and you shouldn’t bring one. The partner companies present their challenges on Saturday morning, and your team picks one of them and solves it. You don’t compete with your own idea: everyone works on a real problem from a real company.

What should I bring?

A laptop and a charger. Food, drink and everything else is on us.

Do we sleep at the venue?

No. The venue closes at 22:00 on Saturday and opens at 8:00 on Sunday. You sleep at home, and that’s deliberate.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. The event is completely free for participants, food included. Partners cover it.

Am I the right age?

It’s aimed at upper secondary students, high school and vocational school alike, roughly 15–21. If you’re near the edge and unsure, email tampere@stuhi.org.

Can I come from outside Tampere?

Yes. It’s open to upper secondary students anywhere in Finland. We can’t cover travel, unfortunately.
