HIGH-UP! 2026
FAQ
The eventWhen and where?
19–20 November 2026, on the Aalto University campus in Espoo, right in the middle of Slush week, as an official Slush side event.
The eventWhat actually happens over the two days?
Day one splits everyone into tracks and builds; day two pitches, crowns the winners and sends you home with a mission. The hour-by-hour plan lives on the agenda page.
The eventWhat are Builders and Solvers?
The two tracks. Builders arrive with a project already underway and spend the event sharpening it with experts. Solvers start from zero: pick a big problem, form a radical solution, iterate.
The eventWhat is the surprise activity on day two?
We are not telling. Be in the room.
Getting inWho can take part?
Any high school student in Finland. Any school, any region, any background. You don't need a startup, a team or a track record, just the willingness to try.
Getting inWhat does it cost me?
Nothing. The event is free for every student, and meals on campus are covered for everyone. If you come from outside the capital region, travel and a hotel night are covered too. That is what the partners are for.
Getting inHow do I sign up?
Through the STUHI platform: register here. It is free and takes a few minutes.
Applications for High-Up! 2026 closed at 12:00 on 26 October. If you applied, sign in to the portal to see your application.
Getting inDo I need an idea before I come?
No. The first thing you do at High-Up! is find a problem worth your two days. Some people arrive with one; most find it in the room.
Getting inDo I need a team?
No. Solvers land in working groups at the event, and Builders can come solo or with the team they already build with.
Travel & stayHow do I get to Espoo?
If you come from outside the capital region (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen), we reimburse your travel, wherever in Finland you start: you buy the ticket, we pay you back. We also help you pick the right train or bus. If you live in the capital region, you make your own way to Otaniemi. The practical details, including how the reimbursement works, arrive with your registration confirmation.
Travel & stayWhere do I sleep?
If you come from outside the capital region, in a hotel we book for you, with an evening snack when you arrive and breakfast before day two, all covered. Students from the capital region sleep at home.
Travel & stayWhat about food during the days?
Lunch and dinner on campus on both days, covered for everyone.
Travel & stayI have allergies or a special diet.

PartnersWho partners with High-Up?
The founding team and the co-organisers are on the partners page, and the three partner tiers are open: Executive Partners from €10,000, Premier Partners from €5,000, and General Partners for any amount under that. What a partnership holds is a conversation, so write to Apurva.
PartnersCan I mentor, judge or volunteer?
Yes. Mentors work with the teams on the floor, judges sit on the Friday jury, volunteers run the event. Fill in the sign-up form; it is not a confirmation, we read every one and get in touch with the people we pick. Questions before you sign up go to entu@aalto.fi.
PartnersHow do I become a partner?
For partnering and sponsoring, write to Apurva Ganoo at Aalto University at apurva.ganoo@aalto.fi. For the Aalto side of the event otherwise, write to entu@aalto.fi; for STUHI itself or the platform, to team@stuhi.org.
